2AM Day 3 Convective Outlook for Monday, October 13. NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST
SUMMARY
A severe threat is not expected across the U.S. Monday and Monday night.
DISCUSSION
A mid-level ridge is forecast to build over the Mississippi Valley on Monday, as a mid-level low pressure system moves southward across the far eastern Pacific, just offshore from the West Coast. Cyclonic southwesterly flow will in place across much of the western U.S. Isolated thunderstorms will be possible on Monday from far southwest Oregon southward along the coast of northern and central California. Thunderstorms will also be possible along and ahead of a cold front from the southern Rockies and southern Plains into the mid Missouri Valley. Additional storms could form along parts of the Eastern Seaboard. Instability across the continental U.S. is expected to be insufficient for severe storms Monday and Monday night.
