23:52Z 80 MS Simpson D Lo An up to two mile wide swath of straight-line wind damage associated with the rear flank downdraft of a thunderstorm occurred through the D'Lo and Mendenhall areas of Simpson County. Residents in the area described an approximately 5 minute period of high winds and heavy rain as the storm pushed through. Several large trees were uprooted and snapped in the swath, and a few were snapped at the trunk. Several trees fell onto homes and power lines. A few trees fell onto an apartment complex in Mendenhall, with the roof sustaining damage. A service station canopy along US Highway 49 collapsed into the pumps and convenience store. In the corridor of strongest winds which occurred on the north side of downtown Mendenhall, wind gusts were estimated to be near 90 MPH, with tree damage observed on most streets in that area.
