Winds of 60-75 mph were reported along the gust front of a line of severe thunderstorms. The ASOS at the Joplin Airport measured a 62 mph gust. Reports were received from the cities of Joplin, Jasper, Duquesne, Diamond, Carrytown and Sarcoxie. On I-49, at the Jasper exit, a Semi-Truck was overturned though no injuries were reported. Law enforcement also reported a possible funnel cloud west of Sarcoxie. No evidence of a tornado was found or reported.

Reports were received from the cities of Miller, Aurora, Freistatt and Lawrenceburg. Multiple trees, large branches, power poles and lines were downed by the high winds. In the Miller fire district a downed line caused a grass small fire. Minor siding and shingle damage was reported to a few homes in Lawrenceburg. No injuries were reported.

Broadway, just south of intersection with I-55. At least 12 homes and other structures sustained minor to moderate roof damage in this area, especially on Indiana Avenue near Cherokee Street. Also, numerous tree limbs and several power lines were blown down in this area. A couple of cars sustained damage from flying debris and falling trees. No injuries were reported.

Damage included several felled limbs of mesquite trees in Zapata City park, a poorly constructed awning blown down to an recreational vehicle on the west side of the city, and a power pole leaning along Swope Lane in Siesta Shores. Based on other recent wind events in the City, wind speeds were estimated to be just below severe (58 mph) levels.
