18:05Z 91 GA Columbia Leah Downburst winds from a thunderstorm produced an area of significant damage to trees and property. The event occurred at Mistletoe State Park in northern Columbia County, GA. Nearly 200 trees had limb damage, were uprooted or snapped. There was a mixture of hardwood and softwood trees, however softwood trees made up most of the trees in this area of the park. There were approximately 10 vehicles that suffered significant damage. There were 10 to 15 campers that suffered significant damage with one overturned. The overturned camper was a pop-up camper. The wind being channeled into a couple of the coves may have produced some of the strongest winds with the event. The diameter of the trees damaged ranged from around 6 inches up to 2 feet. The damage stretched from the park ranger residence northward to the end of the point where the campground is located. This distance is approximately one half mile. There was one injury associated with this event. A 5 year old female child inside one of the campers that was struck by a fallen tree suffered a broken arm. About $25,000 in damage was done to the cabins at the park. Damage estimates for the vehicles and campers is unknown.

19:05Z 74 SC Williamsburg Workman A survey conducted by the National Weather Service concluded a squall line produced straight-line winds up to 75 to 85 mph. The most significant damage surveyed was along Manning Highway between Easler Highway and Highway 52. Tree damage along this 5 mile stretch of roadway was widespread. Numerous large limbs were blown out of healthy trees. A few tree tops were snapped out of healthy trees, up to 14 inches in diameter. A few larger trees were snapped off, but these larger trees possessed considerable rotten wood. A few medium to large trees were uprooted. In addition, several homes lost a small amount of shingles or flashing. Some homes received mostly minor damage from falling trees or limbs. A few outdoor buildings were damaged or destroyed as the wind lifted the metal roofing and deposited it up to 100 yards away. The time of the damage was estimated based on radar data.

In addition, an 80x20 barn, located just north-east of the residence, was destroyed at a loss of $50,000. Inside this building were 2 combines that suffered minor damage (additional $10,000). Next to this barn on the west side was a 24' bumper pull camper that was destroyed, at a loss of $10,000. Also, a 60x60 barn was destroyed at a loss of $108,000. Inside this barn was a late-model RV, which suffered moderate damage at a loss of $25,000. Just north of this barn was a 30' bumper-pull camper which suffered minor damage ($5,000), and an 18' bumper pull camper which was flipped over and suffered $8,000 damage. Additionally, a 3-car garage sustained significant roof and frame damage. Damage is estimated to this building at $45,000.
